MMA News: Former UFC Fighter Justin Levens and Wife Found Dead

By CagE | December 18, 2008

TMZ is reporting that former UFC fighter Justin Levens (9-8) and his wife were found shot to death in a Laguna Niguel home.

According to the report, police are investigating the shooting as a possible murder-suicide.

Levens has fought in various MMA organization’s including the UFC, WEC, IFL and PFC. In his only UFC fight, Levens was submitted by Even Tanner at UFC 59 “Reality Check” back in 2006.

Levens was originally scheduled to fight Ray Lazama at “Affliction Banned” , but the bout was ultimately scrapped due to time constraints. Levens later tested positive for oxymorphone in pre-fight drug testing by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) for the July 19th event.

He was suspended for six months (Jan 15, 2009) and was forced to pay a $1,000 fine before returning to fighting.

Still early in the investigation. I kind of hope it wasn’t a murder-suicide. It is a sad thing, but also, for some reason, it makes the sport look bad.
