The problem is that now MMA is mainstream. There is more money involved with catering to the casual fan than there is the real fan. Fights are being set up on which match-up will make the most cash. Which "real" fans want to see Pulver vs Faber part 2? The ones that want to see this fight are the same bitches you see driving around with a tapout sticker on their car. Fucking posers.

I like your point Zulu, there will never be a way to factually tell who is the best p4p fighter it will always just be opinion. the superfights between Fedor and anyone from 185 on down at a catchweight will never happen. There will never be a quantitative way to tell who the best p4p fighter is during this era of fighters. Maybe one day if its obvious the best two or three fighters are at the same weight. You never heard people talk about having Oscar De La Hoya in his prime fighting Lennox Lewis or who is better..

I don't buy into this pound for pound shit! pound for pound is bollocks guess work at best! a big guy deals with a big guy in a certain way the same as a smaller guy deals with a smaller guy! Bj penn is the best light weight Fedor is the best heavyweight etc etc. at the end of the day if everyone was the same the same size, whos to say who would be champion??

I think co-promotion would work well if some rules were set out first.
For instance if Affliction had their own version of world titles instead of the WAMMA titles, once every few months a holder of a Affliction title fights a holder of a UFC title, make it for the WAMMA belt then whoever loses they are still the champ of their promotion. WAMMA's slogan is "One Belt One King" so if they had the undisputed champion with their belt, anyone with a title from all promotions in the world could put their champions in and maybe this wont end up like boxing with 190 champions in 25 weightclasses (or whatever they have).

Some good points made here!... My issue with Dana White is on the the way he disrespects Fedor in public (White has No Class)... Let's face it - IF the UFC signed Fedor tomorrow White and everyone else involved with the UFC would be calling him the Best MMA fighter in history!
The way Fedor disposed of Big Tim in 30 seconds was a bigwake up call...
He is the best HW in the world - He has a COMPLETE MMA skill set and is as fast as lightning.. I love Randy Couture but Fedor would have smashed him!!!!

On the Pound for pound debate I put in at No.4 Behind GSP, BJ & Silva...

Having said all this, I understand why White does not want to co-promte - If Fedor beats the UFC HW champ and walks away (Back to M1/Affliction etc) then it would devalue the whole UFC HW division!

Luke hit it on the head that Millen is the polite Dana White. Its all business for those guys regardless. Business aside Anderson Silva is the best P4P and he'll prove that when he KO's GSP before he retires. Fedor is the best heavyweight. I have a ton of respect for Brock but right now Fedor will kill that guy.

The UFC doesn't give a crap about what mma fans want. They don't care if any one fighter fights for them or not. Fighters are expendable to the UFC. They build their brand and plug whichever fighter they choose into it. They don't care if they don't have Fedor because he sucks. He's overrated blah, blah, blah. The UFC is in control of the US mma market. They are not going to take a chance on ANYTHING upsetting the apple cart. Their building an empire that doesn't require acquiring the best available fighters in the world. I love mma. I want to see Fedor vs the UFC. Dana doesn't care. All they care about is gate sales and ppv buys. If they can get it buy inflating their stable of fighters and degrading the rest of the mma world the US market deserves what it will get. Everybody keeps saying Fedor NEEDS to fight in the UFC to ?earn? his status as an elite fighter. Well I think the UFC needs Fedor to prove its heavyweight division is worth a crap. History already has Fedor as the best ever. He doesn't need anybody. Jerry came off as jerk to me too. Not as bad as dana but maybe he'll grow into his role over time.

Dude needs to stop eating garlic before an interview. After the 3rd burp I had to quit watching it. The UFC has 3 of the top 4 P4P fighters, they don't Fedor.

I know Anderson silva is up with the top p4p fighters but i think a main thing to take in to acount when talking about p4p is the calibre of the opponents the guys have beat. Similar to fedor, the talent pool in middleweight is not as deep as the others. Again like Zalbag said, its not their fault.

i would never agrue who is top p4p between bj gsp fedor silva, put who you want up there and its a matter of opinion.but there is some things you brought up 1. fedor really hasn't lost to anyone where bj gsp and silva all have lost. 2 i would say that bj and gsp have pretty much fought the best out there but silva(who i think is the best mw) has not really fought the top mw's other than dan and rich i think he would beat alot of the top mw's but he hasn't done it like you said fedor hasn't.
