JZ Calvancante vs. Shinya Aoki Set For March

By CagE | January 24, 2008

According to MMAJunkie, JZ Calvancante will fight Shinya Aoki this March in Japan. The two were scheduled to fight on Nye’s Yarennoka! event, but the fight was cancelled at the last minute, after it was learned that JZ had surgery on his knee and was not even training for the fight.

The hotly anticipated Gesias “JZ” Calvancante (14-1-1) vs. Shinya Aoki (12-2) match-up — first promised to the world and then removed from a New Year’s Eve “Yarennoka!” card in Japan — has been reset for a March date in Japan.

American Top Team General Manager Richie Guerrero confirmed the K-1 sanctioned fight during his appearance on Wednesday’s episode of TAGG Radio.

Hell yeah its going to be good. I was wanting to watch this on New Years eve but it didn’t happen. Aoki is sick on the ground but I think Calvacante is a better fighter. Can’t wait to see this one go down.

The last fight I saw with Aoki he wore rainbow colored pants. Damn, thats got to be the worst highlight real to make, getting subbed by a skinny guy in rainbow tights.
