It looks like Dana White isn’t going to have to hound Jon Jones to come back from vacation to get in the cage again. In an interview with Cagewriter, Dana White said he’s ready to fight again as soon as there is a clear #1 contender.
“[Jones] called about four days ago and said ‘okay let’s go, I’m done with vacation.’ He said he wanted to take all this time off and then they were calling me four days ago saying he wants to fight as soon as possible. He’s ready to go. What could end up happening is Dan Henderson fights Jon Jones first, and then [Jones' subsequent fight] would be close to the time that Rashad fights. Or we see how things go with Rashad [versus Phil Davis] and Rashad fights him first.”
This means that ‘Bones’ Jones is going to be very interested to see if Rashad Evans can pull off a victory against Phil Davis at UFC on FOX 2, setting up the much anticipated grudge match. If that doesn’t happen, then we can probably expect Dan Henderson to get another shot at UFC gold.
It might not matter who comes first since Jones stated he wants to fight four times in 2012, so he’ll probably be staring across the cage from both of these fighters very soon.
