Joe Rogan Responds to Rampage Saying He “Plays the Rusty Trombone for Jiu-Jitsu Fighters”

Quinton “Rampage” Jackson didn’t appreciate Joe Rogan calling him a “one-trick pony” in his last fight against Jon Jones and had some choice words for him during a recent interview. Now Joe Rogan has a response to Rampage thinking he just loves BJJ fighters and is biased against pure strikers.

“Rampage Jackson’s mad at me. I was watching and he was calling me fake ass. He was saying that all I want him to do his throw low kicks and the reason he doesn’t throw low kicks is because he was fighting a wrestler ‘you dumbass.’ Look, man, I love Rampage. I don’t mean to be rude when I assess things. I’m just trying to objectively figure out how this guy could be doing better than he’s doing. … When I’m doing commentary on a fight, all I’m trying to do is sort of objectively assess what I think someone could be doing differently to try to get themselves out of spot if they’re not winning or… I’m just trying to commentate. I’m not like critiquing the guy’s soul. I’m not like breaking down who he is as a person. I like the guy a lot. … The last thing I want to do is add more pressure or add more stress. All I’m doing is trying to just… I’m analyzing the fight, that’s all it is. I have to be objective. I can’t protect someone’s feelings at the expense of doing what I’m supposed to be doing, which is sort of analyzing what’s going on.”

Joe Rogan will be calling “Rampage” Jackson in his next fight against Ryan Bader at UFC 144 on February 25th in Japan.

Here’s part of Rampage’s original comments about Joe Rogan:

“‘He’s so one-dimensional, he’s so one-dimensional’ – he’s going on about jiu-jitsu the whole time. That’s why [when it's time to talk to him] I’m like, ‘Oh here comes Joe Rogan’ and he’s all fake in his face like he’s not just picked apart your whole game like he’s the best fighter in the world and he knows every decision you’re gonna make while he is just sitting there watching you.”

“You know he’s got good jiu-jitsu because he’s so biased against jiu-jitsu guys. You can hear it in his voice. Whenever a guy is a jiu-jitsu fighter he’s playing rusty trombone. I don’t think you should talk down, you should be neutral. When I used to fight in PRIDE, watch Bas Rutten and Stephen Quadros on commentary. Those guys were my good friends and you couldn’t even tell when they were doing commentary. We hung out outside of work sometimes, we were good friends but when I fought they weren’t biased towards me. They did their job. They weren’t biased towards skills or anything like that. That’s the way it should be. Sometimes you can hear him because Joe Rogan has one of those girly high-ass voices. I just wanna tell him to shut the f*ck up sometimes.”
