GSP Earns Black Belt in BJJ

If the guys wasn’t accomplished enough, UFC welterweight champion Georges St. Pierre has earned his BJJ black belt under Bruno Fernandes, according to Graciemag.

GSP ranks three of the best moments in his career:

“This was the high point in my career … When I received my black belt in karate, when I conquered the UFC belt, and today.”

GSP is expected to take on BJ Penn at UFC 94, January 31 on Super Bowl weekend from Las Vegas, NV.

Damn. Anybody know how many other double black belts there are at the top of the UFC? I know there are some guys who have one black belt and like a brown (which takes a lot of time in BJJ). I expect GSP to beat BJ unless there is a flash knock out.

I think that gsp will win but bj is one of my favorite fighters. It’s gonna be great and I can’t wait to see this fight! I would love to see bj win and hold 2 titles but on the other hand I would like to see gsp pull it out and move up to fight Anderson Silva. I think that this fight will be one that is talked about for a long time.

this doesn’t really tell us anything we didn’t already know. We already knew his BJJ kicked ass.

I believe Lyoto Machida received his 3rd degree black belt under Yoshizo Machida, his father, in Shotokan Karate and a 1st degree black belt in BJJ under Alexei Cruz, a student of Ricardo de la Riva.
