Fedor Emelianenko Possibly Returning To Japan For DREAM 7 (UPDATE)

By CagE | September 23, 2008

Heavyweight fighter Fedor Emelianenko addressed the crowed during the DREAM 6 event held last night at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Fedor expressed interest in fighting on a New Years Eve DREAM show to be held in Japan.

It is hard to see Affliction MMA allowing the Russian to fight just 3 weeks before the rescheduled Affliction 2 “Day of Reckoning” show set for January 19 from the Honda Center in Anaheim California.

Affliction announced that Fedor would likely be on the card, but has yet to announce an opponent.

Fedor is widely loved by Japanese fans after competing for PRIDE FC for many years.

UPDATE:
Affliction VP Tom Atencio shoots the notion down.

“Fedor was supposed to fight for them on New Year’s Eve, but he is not because we extended his contract,”

I guess no one told Fedor

i can’t see fedor ever signing with ufc to fight randy. i know that randy wants that to happen but fedor just seems to do whatever he wants to do. he likes to fight once here and once there. I can’t see him signing an exclusive contract for multiple fights with anyone. both pride and affliction have given him the freedom to fight with other organizations and dana would never do that. So much for the Super fights.

Personally I can’t see any better way to bring in the New Year than watching Fedor pound on somebody.
