According to Gracie Fighter, Cesar Gracie trained Jake Shields will take on former BodogFight welterweight champion Nick “The Goat” Thompson for the vacated EliteXC welterweight belt at EliteXC “Unfinished Business” on July 26.

Jake Shields (20-4-1) is considered one the top welterweights in the world, holding wins over Yushin Okami, Dave Menne, Hayato “Mach” Sakurai, Mike Pyle and Carlos Condit.

Shields trains training partners include Nick Daiz, Gilbert Melendez and David Terrell, over at Cesar Gracie Jiu-Jitsu.

Thompson, the former BodogFight welterweight champion, is currently on a 12 fight win streak, with notable wins over Eddie Alverez, Mark Weir and Josh Neer. Following the disbandment of Bodog Fight earlier this year, this crafty MMA veteran has fought two times at Sengoku, securing wins over Michael Costa and Fabricio Monteiro.
