EliteXC 3: Renegade Preview

EliteXC 3: Renegade

Date:

November 10, 2007

Venue:

America Bank Center, Corpus Christi, Texas

Broadcast:

Live on Showtime

Nick Diaz vs. KJ Noons

KJ Noons will take on UFC veteran Nick Diaz in the main event of EliteXC 3: Renegade, on Saturday night. Noons is a stand up fighter who moonlights as a professional boxer. Noons has no wins by submission, so I expect him to want to stay on his feet. Nick Diaz will probably try to stand up and bang with Noons, but will quickly take it to the ground if he gets in trouble. Who knows we might see another Nick Diaz Gogoplata submission in this one.

Prediction: Nick Diaz by Submission.

Kimbo Slice vs. Bo Cantrell

Bo Cantrell was a last minute replacement for Mike Bourke who dropped out with an injury. Cantrell fought two weeks ago and was submitted by Brad Imes by Gogoplata submission. A lot of people underestimate Kimbo, he is a powerful striker who seems dedicated to MMA. Bo Cantrell has lost his last four fights to lower level opponents and I don’t see his losing streak ending with Kimbo. I hope to see this fight go to the ground, so we can see what Kimbo is made of.

Prediction: Kimbo Slice by TKO/KO

Jake Shields vs. Mike Pyle

This should of been the main event, but Mike Pyle refused to fight for the title. He is saying that EliteXC has not promoted him as a top fighter in their organization. Also he seemed jealous of the way EliteXC promotes Gina Carano over himself and will not resign with EliteXC if the situation doesn’t change.

This is a woman! I’m being put behind a woman to be on the undercard. I don’t have time for that man! That, right there gives me the idea that they don’t…and some of the people they chose to promote can’t even stay out of f–ing jail long enough to make their fight. I don’t have time to be put behind people like that! Not to take anything away from Gina, Gina’s my girl, but right now this is a man’s sport.

MMAFightLine

Too bad both these fighter would be a good welterweight champion for EliteXC. Both fighters are well rounded, although I give Shields the small advantage in stand up. I cant count out Mike Pyle, he has been improving greatly since he started training with Xtreme Couture.

Prediction: Shields by TKO/KO

Comments

  1. kimbo and Kick better win their fights if they want to fight for the UFC.Kimbo will need a solid couple of fights against good competition so this doesnt even count and Nick will be in the UFC as soon as his contract with Elite expires. I think.

  2. kick=Nick* I messed up typin

  3. Going to the UFC for Kimbo would be a good move for him. He already has so much hype that he will be given good fights and money just like Lesnar.

As for Nick, if I was him I wouldn't step foot in the octagon ever again. You already know that Dana has his favorites and they are always fighting at the top. Nick was always in the middle and never was mentioned for a title shot. When he beat Gomi after leaving the UFC then he finally got some respect. If he goes back to the UFC, he better be perfect or they will treat him like garbage again. He will be like Marcus Davis on a 10 fight win streak, having to fight newcomers and not in title contention…still.

Nick should stay with Elite because they give him respect there, or go to M1 or another organization that will pay.

  4. The UFC still has the best fighters and Nick wants to fight the best so I think he'll go back to the UFC if they give him another contract.

  5. the problem with the diaz brothers, nick and nate, is that they never respect to their opponents when they do lose. they show poor sportsmanship. dana white has mentioned this about nick diaz on one occassion. and i can think of one occassion when nate diaz was disrespectful… when he lost a definite unanimous decision to diego sanchez. nate showed no congrats or anything. he just was a sore loser that night.

    Well said.

  7. The UFC are cans.

  8. Blows my mind I never thought of that…the UFC are cans…damn, how come I never saw it before.

  9. the ufc is the place to be. And thats the truth. The more I think about the top guys in each weight class the more I think UFC has them.

    Lightweight-UFC

    Welterweight-UFC

    Middleweight-UFC

    Lightheavyweight-UFC

heavyweight-M-1/UFC? or Other depending on Randy?

Until Randy fights Fedor or fedor fights a number 1 contender he is not the best. He hasnt fought a top 3 guy in forever. But randy may not go back to the UFC so IDK.

  10. yeah no doubt the UFC is the place to be some other orgs might have 1 or 2 big named fighters but more than likely they came from the UFC and have lost 1 too many fights to stay in, but I hope Nick gets back to the UFC he is 1 of my favorite fighters. As of now I think Anderson is the #1 p4p fighter until Fedor fights some competition, which with him signing with M-1 doesnt seem like thats gonna happen anytime soon

  11. "The UFC are cans." LOL….HAHA… Someone's trolling.

Hmm…. lets see. St Pierre, Gonzaga, Jackson, Fitch, Henderson, Pen, Rua, Hughes, Florian, Herring, Machida, Silva (Anderson and Wanderlei), Ortiz, Sherk, Franca, Griffin, Horn, Monson, Franklin, Liddell, Parisyan, Sanchez, Fisher, Cro Cop etc etc etc….

Yep..All cans there huh?…lmao..Did you mean cans of whoopass? ..lol… Okay, if you can't tell, I'm rolling my eyes.

  12. Ooooh….I can't believe after thinking of that huge list of "cans." PFFF……… I forgot to mention Tim (poopy pants) Silvia. The list really wouldn't be complete without ol' poopy pants.

  13. Joe…lmao.

  14. I like Diaz. He is in my favorite ten fighters, but I agree that Dana seems not to like him, and he will be buried in non-contention fights, unless Dana knows someone will kick his ass. 'Soooo… you want that title shot?'…
