Drew Fickett Stubs Jake Sheilds, Get Cut From EliteXC

By CagE | June 17, 2008

drew fickett dropped by EliteXC

According to Gracie Mag, longtime veteran Drew Fickett was scheduled to fight Jake Shields on last weekends EliteXC “Return of the King”, but apparently Fickett told EliteXC officials that he was not fully healed from a knee injury and the fight was ultimately was dropped from the card.

It turns out Fickett fought one week prior to the EliteXC event in Arizona at Rage in the Cage 111, submitting his opponent by guillotine choke in the first round. EliteXC officials were not told of the fight and after attempts at contacting Fickett, he was dropped from the promotion.

Fickett’s decision cost Shields financially as he was left without a fight for the Hawaii card. EliteXC has not been able to contact Fickett and it looks as if they will be dropping him from their organization.

Shields will now be fighting on EliteXC’s newly announced July 26th CBS show. Possible opponents now being looked at are Nick Thompson and Jay Hieron amongst others.
