Din Thomas Arrested For Running Illegal MMA Fights

According to TCPalm, UFC Fighter was playing promoter at his gym in Palm Springs Florida. The only problem is he didn’t tell the Athletic commission.

Din Thomas, well-known in the Ultimate Fighting Championship world, was arrested Tuesday after police say he ran “illegal cage fighting” matches at a local training studio that he runs, a police spokesman said.

Thomas, 31, faces a felony prohibited competitions charge after police got a tip Oct. 19 about the matches at a facility he uses in St. Lucie West.

Inside, they observed two men fighting in an octagon-shaped ring surrounded by about 150 spectators. The fights reportedly weren’t sanctioned.

  1. This is a sticky one. I'm sure the athletic commision doesn't just hand out sanctions, even under the most favorable conditions, (doctors, rules, ref.'s). Hopefully, this wasn't Bloodsport, but still, illegal is illegal. He could have at least applied?

  2. I agree he shouldn't have taken the chance by having unsanctioned fights. It saved him a lot of hassle but in the end you got to expect people to run their mouths and eventually it will get you in trouble.

  3. Yeah I dont know what he was thinking. He had to of known that eventually he would get caught. People talk and that is that. What an idiot.

  4. Does anyone know what penalties he is facing? Is this similar to a Michael Vic situation?
