Dana White: Tito Ortiz ‘Dumbest Human Beings I’ve Ever Met’

By CagE | May 16, 2008

Dana White hits back at Tito Ortiz during a UFC 84 “Ill Will” press conference call.

Tito Ortiz:

You know what it really comes down to is just (UFC president) Dana White. If he learns to shut his mouth and learns to respect me there is a possibility yet. (He needs to) give a public apology for the things that he has done. That is just what it really comes down to, but I want to go with a company that is going to respect me and see me as the champion I am and the ambassador that I am of the sport and not really downplay me or disrespect me on television or anything else.

Dana White Responds:

“Tito is a f—ing idiot,” White said. “He’s one of the dumbest human beings I’ve ever met. Everything that comes out of his mouth makes no sense.”

“I put up with his s— when he was a good fighter,” White said. “He’s not anymore.”

“He’s not in anybody’s Top 10,” White said. “I have no interest whatsoever in being in the Tito Ortiz business. … I’ve never wanted to see anyone get their ass kicked worse than I want to see Tito get his kicked next Saturday night.”

Tito Ortiz isn’t in his prime, but the guy draws huge PPV sales and is always actively promoting himself in the media. He will be gold to any of these up start MMA promotions looking for a big name to headline a card. Now the real question is, can they afford him and still make a profit.

    It’s all HYPE to sell PPV and Rattteiings. So you could see what tito say’s to dana at the end of his fight win or loose.

    That sums it up. Tito always wanted the UFC to promote Tito. Chuck Liddell always did what they asked, never bit the hand that feeds. Look how big his name is today.

    i still think he can beat alot of lhw’s, he won’t be champ again but is still a tough fight for most anyone and dana letting him go will only help another company.

    Dana White has put his heart and soul into this sport. He really is the pioneer for MMA today. He has worked his ass off to get this sport where it is today. Where were all these companies and people at years ago when everybody was telling Dana this sport will never make it. He lives and breathes this sport. Now all these other leagues want to jump in and gravy train off of what he built. I don’t think people realize how hard Dana White has worked for this business. Yes the fighters deserve to be paid big time. But if they will shut up and relax, it will come. People like Tito are slowly breaking down the UFC. Dana has made some mistakes, but he is the one that has broken down a lot of doors so we can enjoy this sport the way we do today. I don’t blame him for being pissed
    when all these upstart leagues want to make millions off of what he has worked so hard to create.

    rickr3 dana has put his heart and soul into the ufc not mma and not for the sport but for money and thats fine just don’t get it confused for his love of the sport.everthing you said sounds quoted from one of his speeches and not from his actions.

    not from a speech, just an observation.

    Tito is the T.O. of the UFC. He is a great guy when you are giving him money and praises but a big baby when he doesn’t get what he wants.

    Go Tito!
    P.S. ; Some people that are definately lower than Tito in IQ (saying, even if he were as Dana says an idit) have posted here. People, use spell check….or better yet, get an education for christ sake.

    Dana White needs to show a little class when dealing with his athletes. He’s in the position of leader of the UFC not the WWE.

    he wanted to be the Tito show that would be ok if Chuck hadnt kicked his twice and put on such a poor showing against Rasheed Evans

    Eric – you might want to take your own advice:

    definately = DEFINITELY
    idit= IDIOT

    Eric, you should DEFINITELY use spell check yourself. Well, if you are going to call people out for incorrect spelling.

    Dana White’s role/function should be executed behind the scene and not in front of the television camera as other professionals do in other sports. Why does he constantly compete for air-time? May be he should be in the “entertainment” industry, such as WWE with Vince McMahon. Seems like he’s simply trying to compensate for his lack-lustre boxing career and wants a taste of the limelight…Reminds me of Don King…What a LOSER!!!

    C’mon guyz lets be honest !! We all remember why did we start watching UFC years ago. Great fighters with their performances and unique features in fighting are those who made us love this sport even more. They brought some new colors and upgraded to very best level now. Some names like Tito Ortiz, Liddell, Shamrock are still shaking the ground and it’s natural when fighter like these ask for some big slice of money. Like Ortiz said, 5 years ago or more he received 5000$ per fight maybe little more or less it doesn’t matter but, years are passing and still receives 5000$ even though his fight brought millions. Ofcourse in that situation you will feel as gladiator, you know, fight and let somebody else to think for you !! Ortiz is great guy !!! Wouldn’t you ask for a raise in whatever job you are doing ??
    Ortiz is not promoting himself in the first place, he trains very very hard, he fights, he wins.. so he deserves a little more than before… I mean, we all want to make a progress, going up, thats the way it is. It takes huge courage for what tito is doing.. But I also think that UFC is not Tito show and never should be and the things should go on, I am on Tito’s side and i think that his leaving will be the greatest mistake for UFC, greatest LOSS !!! Sorry for such a long text, i had to say what i think !! Goodbye

    I doubt that Tito is still making $5 Grand a fight. The point is that it’s pretty much understood that Tito is hard to negotiate with and he has a big head…literally. Affliction had to close negotiations and now he’s knocking on the UFC’s door again. If he is serious about fighting again and being a top contender he needs to worry more about fighting for the right organization.

  20. steve Says:
    August 22nd, 2008 at 8:44 pm

    Tito makes like 600 grand a fight. With sponsors and stuff. He discussed it in a video. And how he made soo much more money for the ufc then that. Also how fast it goes. Whodini u say he had a poor showing against Rasheed well its rashad* and if it wasnt for te dumbass point taken away he wins that fight. But it was obvious he won that fight.

  21. Onri Says:
    August 22nd, 2008 at 9:22 pm

    They should have made it a double loss because Tito and Rashad looked like shit in that fight. If the hadn’t taken the point away…he was cheating his ass off so yeah they took a point. It stopped him from being dropped on his big ass head.

  22. Ivan Says:

    :D it’s true that Tito really have a big head :D but if you look closer, his genetic is made for fighting, shape of his head is perfect form of every definition about male hunters,fighters,gladitaors back in the history, so he is blessed..

    So, what is Tito doing now ?? Where will he fight ??
