If Chuck wins he is the number one contender no doubt about it…Chuck for sure has an unreal sprawling ability but if shogun can somhow take him down (set up with well timed kicks and good footwork) i think shogun can either submit him or win by ground and pound…Shogun can not get hit by the big punch that is his main concern…wqhen is this fight taking place, anyone know?

Chuck just has to watch out for them kicks!! Remember how Jardine swole Chuck’s body up with em. If he is too tentative, Shogun could very well have the best of Chuck that night.

in a chuck lidell fight u never know if the fight is gunna go to the ground. chuck has arguably the best takedown defense in the game, and shogun isnt known for the best takedowns. im not saying it wont hit the ground but its definetly not a for sure thing

i dont think i’ve ever seen chuck in a ground fight and you know at some point this one is going to the ground. it should be good.

i feel shogun will win but you never know chucks got alot of power in those punches but either way it should be a good fight.

only a stupid person would bet on this fight… i think shogun will be motivated after his loss and coem back looking awesome and i think the motivated chuck that we saw in his last fight will show up too should be awesome but it all depends on which shogun and which lidell sho up come fight time

Today, Tatame.com caught up with the Brazilian who confirmed that the fight was indeed on and that he looks forward to avenging the loss of Wanderlei Silva (Liddell defeated Silva via unanimous decision at UFC 79: “Nemesis” in December 2007):

Here’s the snip from Shogun (roughly translated):

“I confirmed that fight yesterday. Everything is agreed for June and I hope to make this a huge fight and represent my good team … For sure I’m going to avenge Wanderlei … he passed by Curitiba for a short time and then left to his city, but we got to get together and talk. We are going to make an exchange, but i don’t know when thats going to happen. Everything depends on the strategy my team has for this fight…. [Chuck] has a very good boxing and wrestling team. Liddell’s game is more standing, but it can be an error trying to take him down because it requires a lot of strength. I am going to try to improve my tactics with Alejo Morales, my brother and the rest of the team, but I can exchange with him and finish this fight standing.”
