CFFC 5: Kimbo Slice Set To Fight Ray Mercer

By CagE | June 21, 2007

kimbo slice back yard brawler results

The back yard brawler and Internet video celebrity Kimbo Slice is set to make his mixed martial arts debut against legendary boxer Ray Mercer at Cage Fury Fighting Championships (CFFC) 5 in Atlantic City, New Jersey on June 23. Kimbo has been training at extreme Couture in Las Vegas and also in California with Bas Rutten in preparation for his fight with Mercer.

Slice has worked as a bodyguard for the pornographic VIP Graham Heffelfinger and MILF Hunter productions. [1] Rolling Stone has stated his age at 31 (in 2007) and called Slice “The King of the Web Brawlers”.[1] His current bare-knuckle fighting record is 7-1. Ferguson was a star defensive player for Miami Palmetto High School in the Pinecrest area of Miami, Florida. Although he was a highly sought after recruit from big name colleges, Ferguson decided he didn’t want to attend college. He had a short stint with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad before being cut.

Not hard to blind side Joe street guy, little harder to do that to Randy Cotour. Getting tired of these gimmick MMA fighters. Ray Mercer was a good boxer, in his prime, he will not be a good MMA fighter now. Who were the guys he was fighting in that video? Looked like they went out and found rent a fighter for the day. Sorry to be so negative, just do not want to see the sport I love turn into a circus freak show. Good MMA fighters spend years learning how to be all around fighters, not back alley street fighters. Did anyone actualy think the fights on the payperview with Brock Lesner were any good? More then half the fighters did not get clearance to fight, what we got to see was a bunch of last minute fighters and fights. A former crybaby football player, juiced up on steroids getting knocked out in seconds, come on.

yeah, that whole show really sucked, from the ring ropes, to the annoying announcer, to the boringest matchups you can imagine. We have Kimbo, Tommy Morrision, Kurt Angle, Mercer, all of these guys coming out to get a piece of the popularity.

I think Brock Lesnar could be good, Kimbo maybe if you listen to Bas Puttens hype, the rest would not make at all. But if you put them against chumps like Lesnar had in his debut, you’re not taking it serious, your just a spectacle to watch.
