UFC 158 Results: Camozzi defeats Ring, and Dana White announces Ronda Rousey as next TUF coach

Kevin and George from the Uncut Sports Show weigh in on all of the exciting action from this weekend’s main card at UFC 158. Let’s see what they thought about Chris Camozzi vs Nick Ring.

Chris Camozzi won a split decision over Nick Ring in a slug fest, that featured punches with nothing behind them. In the end Camozzi’s conditioning allowed him to out perform Ring for the win.

The biggest news of the night, however, came after the fight when Dana White announced that Ronda Rousey would be one of the coaches for season 18 of the Ultimate Fighter. Huge news for Women’s MMA and an interesting twist to the reality series.

UFC 158: Carlos Condit vs. Johny Hendricks

George and Kevin from Uncut Sports “weigh in” on the welterweight fights featured on the upcoming UFC 158 card.

Canadian Nick Ring might be one of the sleepers in the middles. His only loss was a decision to Tim Boetsch, he’s well rounded and can beat you several ways. However, his opponent Chris Camozzi is just as well rounded and on a three fight win streak. Expect a technical fight from these two.

Winner of this one, will face the winner of the GSP vs. Diaz fight, it’s pretty simple. Johny Hendricks is on fucking tear. He’s dropping welterweights like a bad habit, with knockouts over Kampmann, Fitch, Waldburger, and Brenneman in 4 of his last 7. I think he’s the scariest thing in this stacked welterweight class. Nonetheless, Carlos Condit is a very smart and methodical fighter. Condit needs to do exactly what he did to Diaz to beat Hendricks.

However, in my opinion Hendricks packs more power and can end it in one shot. If Hendricks quickly works his way to the inside, and avoids the leg kicks of Condit, he can win this fight. Vegas seems to think, that’s what will happen, and so do I.

UFC 158: Jake Ellenberger vs. Nate Marquardt

Kevin and George from Uncut Sports “weigh in” on the lightweight bouts from the upcoming UFC 158 card.

Lightweights Mike Ricci and Colin Fletcher will clash at UFC 158. Canadian Mike Ricci looks to get consistent after losing 3 of his last 5. If you recall Ricci was defeated by Colton Smith via unanimous decision on December 15, 2012 at the The Ultimate Fighter: Team Carwin vs. Team Nelson Finale. Ricci has some knockout power and he showed it when he received Knockout of the season in TUF 16, and 4 of his 7 victories inside the Octagon have come via KO. Colin Fletcher was in TUF the Smashes. Fletcher faced Norman Parke on December 15, 2012 in the finals at UFC on FX: Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson. He lost the fight via unanimous decision. I think Fletcher needs to take this fight to the ground, all but one of his wins have come via submission. If he stands and bangs with Ricci, it could be a short night.

Jake Ellenberger will meet returning UFC veteran Nate Marquardt who made the drop to welterweight in his short stint with Strikeforce. This is an interesting match up, and vital for both fighters who have been a little hit or miss lately. Vegas has Ellenberger as the favorite, and I’m gonna have to agree with them. I think that Ellenberger’s ability to mix up his hands and wrestling will keep Marquardt guessing, off balance, and create a slow start. With this fight only being three rounds. I see Ellenberger earning a decision.
