Showtime relayed the information that Fedor Emelianenko will take on Brett Rogers later this fall in Strikeforce. The announcement came today by Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker at Fedor open workout at the Fighthouse in New York City.

Both fighters are coming of impressive wins over former UFC heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. Fedor “The Last Empror” Emelianenko (30-1) last fought at Affliction 2 “Day Of Reckoning” in January, knocking out Arlovski at 3:14 of the first round.

Undefeated Brett “The Grim” Rogers (10-0) one-upped Fedor by KO Arlovski in just 22 seconds at Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields”.

This should be a great matchup, I’m glad Strikeforce worked out this deal, instead of bringing in a “Big Named” less skilled opponent to feed to Fedor. Many fans wanted to see Fedor challenge the title and take on the “Demolition Man” Alistair Overeem.

Cagetoday.com will have live results of Strikeforce “Carano vs Cyborg” on August 15th from the HP Pavillion in San Jose, CA. The show gets started around 8pm EST, followed by the Showtime broadcast at 10:30pm EST.

Gina Carano and Cris Cyborg will make history as the first women to headline a MMA event and compete for the first ever Strikeforce 145lb. womens championship title.

The first shocking upset of the night came as the surprisingly well mannered Mike Kyle upset Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante on the preliminary card of Strikeforce “Lawler vs. Shields”. Feijao who is good friends and training partner with Anderson Silva and Antonio “Big Nog” Nogueira, seemed overwhelmed by the striking of Mike Kyle.

The California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) indefinitely suspended Mike Kyle for his actions at WEC 20 after Kyle illegally kneed Brian Olsen in the head and then continued to try to punch Olsen as two referees were physically restraining him.
