MMA Coach of the Year Rafael Cordeiro Launches MMA Tutorial Project

Want to learn killer techniques from Rafael Cordeiro, the same master who’s mentored superstars Anderson Silva, Shogun Rua, and Wanderlei Silva to MMA superstardom? Now you’ll get a shot at the opportunity.

In what appears to be a first among the UFC’s elite, Cordeiro has launched today (May 1) an online campaign on Kickstarter.com for his autobiography and MMA tutorial. Rather than sign the usual book deal with a traditional publishing house, Cordeiro has taken matters into his own hands — or rather pass them into the hands of his fans.

Should fans pledge at least $30,000, he will produce both softcover and hardcover versions of his book, which will reveal his championship-winning strategies and techniques, as well as his amazing rags-to-riches life story. And, depending on their individual contributions, fans could also receive autographed swag like posters and T-shirts, exclusive video interviews with Cordeiro and his students, and even a private training session with the master and his top UFC pupils.

His book — tentatively called The Kings MMA Way — promises to divulge tactics for beating strikers, grapplers, and wrestlers. There will be plenty of photos, as well as tips on how to develop a fighter’s mindset, maintain proper nutrition and exercise, and balance your life while trying to enter the MMA business.

A former Muay Thai champion and BJJ black belt with the world-famous Chute Boxe, Cordeiro founded Kings MMA in Huntington Beach, California, where he’s taught everyone from former Strikeforce champion Gina Carano and TUF’s Jamie Yager to top contenders Jake Ellenberger and Mark Munoz. It’s no surprise then that he was named the Shawn Tompkins Coach of the Year at the World MMA Awards ceremony held in January.

The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale: Kelvin Gastelum upsets Uriah Hall

Kevin and George from the Uncut Sports Show breakdown all of the action from this weekend’s Ultimate Fighter Season 17 Finale, including the surprise of the night when Kelvin Gastelum did the unthinkable to Uriah Hall.

Gastelum used his wrestling background to consistently take down Hall and take away his most important weapon, his quickness. Kelvin Gastelum says the reason he won season 17 of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) was because he wasn’t “scared” to bring the fight to Uriah Hall and was determined to keep the pressure on “Prime Time.” Next up? A possible drop to welterweight.
