California Athletics Holds Strong On Medical Marijuana

By CagE | November 30, 2009

nick diaz saying hello

In California you may be able to get a card allowing you the use of legal marijuana for medical reason, but if you are an athlete don’t be expecting the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) to license you anytime soon.

AKA the Nick Diaz rule,

The California State Athletic Commission’s position is that Marijuana is a banned substance pursuant to Rule 303 and that any positive drug test may result in discipline. [CSAC]

Nick Diaz has been at odds with the California commission over his use of “Medical Marijuana”. He even refused to show up for a piss test earlier this year to be licensed to fight Jay Hieron in Strikeforce.

Read the full Rule 303 on the Commissions website.
