UFC heavyweight contender Brandon “The Truth” Vera has apparently turned down a fight with Loyoto Machida at UFC Fight Night 14 on July 19th. Vera will instead take on UFC newcomer Reese Andy at 205. The Quote comes from the Brazilian MMA News Magazine Tatame.com.br.

UFC light heavyweight contender Loyoto Machida:

“It’s true. I was offered to fight at [UFC Fight Night 14], but Brandon Vera did not want want it. I do not know what happened, but he did not accept the fight.”

Two losses no matter how you lose does something to your confidence level no matter what anyone says. All great fighters will tell you that it’s a mental game and Brandon needs to somehow penetrate the bubble he’s in now. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to gain my confidence against someone like Machida who’s obviously on a huge roll.

that may be it tom or he may not want to be involved in a boring fight that the fans are not excited about.

roy that is the bottom line right there. No one eants to fight a guy who has never had a fun fight and besides his sytle is so frustrating and I feel it is a bad match up for brandon. Machida is gonna get beat by a dangerous striker like Chuck or Wanderlei. THey will get in Machidas face and tko him but Brandon would get schooled by Machida.

In his mind he lost by technicalities. He broke his hand in the Silvia fight and was stopped early in the wierdum fight. I hear everyone say that he should fight LHW but not from his mouth.

Machida should be getting a title shot but Dana wants Chuck to have the opportunity first. If Chuck wins then he will get the next title shot after the Forrest/Ramp fight..

I liked to watch Vera fight when he was new and a much more exciting explosive fighter, he has changed his style a bit too dramatically. He is a bigger BJ Penn. Just needs to focus on his conditioning and get his mind right and get in there and drop bombs like he used to and he will be fine. As far as machiada goes, ya hes frustrating for his foes, thats why he wins, he imposses his will and makes his oppenent fight his fight, boring as hell, but his fight. Vera would get his lunch eaten by Machiada. I do agree with the fact that dana would rather see chuck, rua, or wandi fight for the belt before machiada. In my eyes any of those guys can beat rampage or get beaten by rampage
