MMA Coach of the Year Rafael Cordeiro Launches MMA Tutorial Project

Want to learn killer techniques from Rafael Cordeiro, the same master who’s mentored superstars Anderson Silva, Shogun Rua, and Wanderlei Silva to MMA superstardom? Now you’ll get a shot at the opportunity.

In what appears to be a first among the UFC’s elite, Cordeiro has launched today (May 1) an online campaign on Kickstarter.com for his autobiography and MMA tutorial. Rather than sign the usual book deal with a traditional publishing house, Cordeiro has taken matters into his own hands — or rather pass them into the hands of his fans.

Should fans pledge at least $30,000, he will produce both softcover and hardcover versions of his book, which will reveal his championship-winning strategies and techniques, as well as his amazing rags-to-riches life story. And, depending on their individual contributions, fans could also receive autographed swag like posters and T-shirts, exclusive video interviews with Cordeiro and his students, and even a private training session with the master and his top UFC pupils.

His book — tentatively called The Kings MMA Way — promises to divulge tactics for beating strikers, grapplers, and wrestlers. There will be plenty of photos, as well as tips on how to develop a fighter’s mindset, maintain proper nutrition and exercise, and balance your life while trying to enter the MMA business.

A former Muay Thai champion and BJJ black belt with the world-famous Chute Boxe, Cordeiro founded Kings MMA in Huntington Beach, California, where he’s taught everyone from former Strikeforce champion Gina Carano and TUF’s Jamie Yager to top contenders Jake Ellenberger and Mark Munoz. It’s no surprise then that he was named the Shawn Tompkins Coach of the Year at the World MMA Awards ceremony held in January.

John Moraga on the other hand is a fighter from Phoenix, Arizona. He is just 19 years of age but he holds a superb 13 win and 1 loss record. Although his last win was five months ago against Chris Cariaso at the UFC 155 – Dos Santos versus Velasquez via submission guillotine choke in just 1 minute and 11 seconds of round 1. This victory was among a series of 7 consecutive wins from July 2010. Moraga has remained undefeated from 2010 and has been victorious over great fighters like Nathaniel Baker, Freddie Lux, Matthew Garcia, Ulysses Gomes (defeated via KO) and Jose Carbajal to name a few. His only defeat came from John Dodson at the Nemesis Fighting- MMA Global Invasion in December 2010 via unanimous decision.

Aside from the Johnson versus Moraga main event, fans will surely delight as their female favorites will also be a part of the show. It will be a showdown between Miesha “Cupcake” Tate and Liz “Girl-Rilla” Carmouche. Carmouche is fresh from her terrible defeat against Ronda “Rowdy” Rousey at UFC 157 main event where Rousey once again won via her signature arm bar move. Carmouche submitted in just 4 minutes and 49 seconds of round 1.
