Mixed Rules Fight: Shinya Aoki successfully used pro wrestling style strikes to stall the K-1 rules first round against Yuichiro Nagashima. That plan came to an end when Aoki was crushed with Nagashima’s knee on an attempted take down early in the second.
As long as Aoki continues to not work on his stand-up, he will continue to get KTFO. He is an entertaining grappler but this is MMA. Unless he wants to fight nobodies, he better work on his stand-up. This knee was beautiful. It was timed just right but everyone knew that Aoki was going to shoot in right away.
Yup I agree. Nagashima was just waiting for the shoot, which is the only real problem Aoki poses, and timed his knee.
