Sean Sherk To Keep Title Regardless Of CSAC Outcome

According to an the Mr. Sunshine , Dana White said the UFC will not strip Sean Sherk of the UFC lightweight title, regardless of the outcome of the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) meeting on November 13.

“White said he’s not going to strip Sherk of his lightweight championship because he is fed up with the California Athletic Commission’s handling of Sherk’s steroids case. He said Penn and Stevenson … will fight for the interim title as the main event of UFC 80 … The winner of that bout would then presumably face Sherk once Sherk’s status is defined by the commission.”

BJ Penn and Joe Stevenson will fight at UFC 80 in Newcastle, England. The winner will then fight for the Title against Sean Sherk early in 2008.

Why? If they hear his case and still suspend him, then why does he get to keep the title. Doesn't make much sense to me.

  2. steve says:

Its all about money really. When B.J. Penn beats the shit out of Stevenson he is gonna earn a title shot and have a super fight between 2 top 5 guys in the 155lb. division in the world. Big bucks were talking here.

  3. robert says:

What would you expect? This is the WrestlingUFC. The WUFC signed Lesner right? So connect the dots.

  4. steve says:

Lesnar is actually a very good fighter. He is a national champion wrestler in Div 1. But in a way I agree. But what do u expect Robert its all about the money and people who watch wrestling and people who wtach UFC want to see Lesnar fight. He is a big Draw. So of course they signed him. Kurt Angle is going to be the next wrestler and olympic champ to try his hand in MMA. Lesnar has already beat the shit out of guy in pride in like 2 minutes wining by TKO.

  5. keivon says:

Lesnar looked good in his first MMA fight and looked comfortable on the ground. Since its the UFC you know he is going to fight a chump, wonder who the human highlight reel is going to be.

  6. Corey says:

I cant see Lesnar winning a top heavyweight in the UFC, no way. He is a great wrestler but so what. He's going up against guys who have more experience than him in every area except wrestling.

  7. onri says:

Apparently Lesnar hand picked his first oppenent and it is a name, and not an easy win. They guy is serious and confident in his talent. Can't wait to see who it is.

  8. kom34 says:

I'm not suprised, he is the "next big thing" for the UFC.

  10. Joe says:

It's Frank Mir. Lesnar will get submitted and so will Stevenson. Neither fight will make it to the third round. Anyone want to bet otherwise?

  11. Realwun says:

I agree with you on the Lesnar fight, that wont make it to the second. Either Lesnar will impose his will on Mir or he will end up getting submitted.

I think Penn should train hard and get his stamina up just in case that one heads to the later rounds…I think it might be scheduled for 5 rounds.
