Its Official, DirecTV Drops VERSUS From Cable Lineup

directv_hd_100

After months of negotiations, DirecTV keep its word and drop the cable channel VERSUS from its lineup after the two couldn’t come to terms on pricing. Versus which is owned by Comcast has been raising its rates as it becomes more and more popular with Hockey, MMA and alternative sports fans. The largest satellite provider DirecTV refused to pay and threatened to pull the channel from its lineup.

If you are a current DirecTV subscriber you will notice the channel is gone. Versus is the exclusive broadcast partner of the World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC). Unless the two come to terms Versus is no more on DirecTV.

Glad I got Dish Network… always thought Dish was better than Direct TV anyway.

I emailed them and told them that myself and a lot of other MMA and NHL fans find this unacceptable and would be switching to another provider. I got a response with the same spiel about rate raising and they told me that I will get a free couple of months of complimentary Starz channels for the inconvenience. Wow, what a deal…..not!
