Josh Thompson Out, Mitsuhiro Ishida Replaces Against Gilbert Melendez

Rumors of Josh Thompson not being able to compete at Strikefore “Carano vs. Cyborg” on Aug. 15 due to a still injured leg, are true. Thompson was not cleared to fight by the California State Athletic Commission. Strikeforce confirmed that Mitsuhiro Ishida (18-5-1) will replace Thompson and take on Gilbert Melendez (15-2) for the interim Strikeforce lightweight title.

Ishida defeated Melendez via unanimous decision at DREAM 1 in 2007.
