Alistair was acting up and Zuffa gave him a spanking. Its good for Alistair because Bigfoot  Silva was going to give him another loss.

Yup, I think Big Foot was going to embarrass him if they fought. So I guess Overeem walks away saving some face. He probably learned from watching Fedor lose to better competition that it's better to just walk away and have people argue about how good you could have been. Now he can go beat up chumps for a living.

They should have tried to trade him to another promotion for some of their top talent (taking a page from the NFL, sort of). I think it would be a great way to promote the sport and it would let Zuffa/Strikeforce/UFC gain something from an otherwise total loss.

It's different for MMA because they don't get any guaranteed money. You fight you get paid. Simple as that. So it's his loss and after his boring fight with Wierdum I don't think he has the same draw and I don't think he could beat the top guys like Big Foot or any of the upper guys in the UFC anyway.
