Vitor vs AS should be a great match-up, provided that the "right" Vitor shows up. They are both great at stand-up and both BJJ Black Belts. I would still go with AS based on his reach and over-all striking (I don't recall Vitor showing a whole lot in terms of kicks)…but I am looking forward to this one.
"The Right" Vitor as in "The Right" any fighter in the world coming in prepared. I agree with you, but I'm not that optimistic…10 years ago, hell yeah! but Vitor is a pale shadow of his younger super high energy days. It will be a good bout. I'd suggest VB switch his training to a weighted cardio/multi-bag routine with sit-ups and push-ups between every round, then 1 hour on Ground Game followed by 1 hour on Kicks, that's my current routine and while I'm not so arrogant as to compare my expertise with Belfort and his camp, I am easily expert enough to know that it could be the deciding factor for this aging MMA Superstar. I have a tough bout coming up against a serious striker/grappler and I'll let you guys know how it goes!
Every fighter has to come in being "right" but I would agree that Vitor, baring injury or age, is one of the most inconsistent fighters of all time. One fight, he'll look like a monster and then next he looks like he is not interested.
