BJ Penn Next In Line For The Lightweight Title

According to UFC president Dana White in a post UFC 73 press conference, BJ Penn is likely to stay at 155lb and could fight for the UFC lightweight title against Sean Sherk as early as November. Penn recently dropped down to 155 to rematch Jens Pulver at The Ultimate Fighter Season 5 finale, in which he made quick work and choked out Pulver. Sherk will be a challenge for Penn given that he is sometimes lacking in cardio and has a tenancy to gas in the later rounds. Sherk can go five rounds non-stop like we witnessed at UFC 73.

“B.J. Penn is next for Sherk. In November.”

Penn will have to put him away in the first two rounds or else he'll be in trouble.

  2. steve says:

I think Penn will submit him if it goes to the ground which it will after sherk slams him he will fall right into a Triangle and good night and I also think that B.J. has an advantage on the feet so…

This is a no brainer! Sherk will lose his title. Penn is a beast at the lightweight division and will dominate the one dementional sherk. Sherk is good, but they do not call Penn Prodigy for nothing.
