The long anticipated rematch between UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen will not likely go down in Rio. Apparently, the logistics on holding a UFC event on the same weekend of a large United Nations convention is to much for the city to handle, according to UFC President Dana White.
“This situation is already being discussed. There are some speculations. What you heard, I heard too. It seems like there are no hotels to fit everybody with UN’s event, Rio+20â€, Guiamares said.
“(Silva vs. Sonnen’s venue and date) will be announced by Dana White in a press conference in Brazil. Nothing is confirmed yetâ€.

The showdown will likely go down July, 7, 2012 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Vegas.
