this guy is totally our of his mind.

  2. Rich in NJ says:

Really Steven? You taught the Brazilians the front kick? Really?

  3. Miss Quivering Honey says:

What are you two talking about?

He said he taught Anderson a variation of of a front kick he learned in Japan 30 years ago.

    It was a nice interview.

and it was nice of Anderson to credit Segal for teaching him the variation.

  4. Quinn says:

There is no one front kick, every martial art has several variations. Some use the toes to strike, others the heel, or the ball. Some involve coiling, while others strike on the fall using gravity, and some on the rise using body weight, and of course many rely on muscle. There must be hundreds, obviously Segals version is effective.

  5. WHODINI says:

    whatever

  6. YeahBuddy says:

I respect Mr. Segal and if you think he doesn't know his martial arts, you are sadly mistaken. He's working with the Brazilian guys and a big part of Martial Arts is LEARNING, guys.

It's not just MMA or kick, punch, block, it's a way of life. The casual MMA and/or UFC fan has no idea of where these techniques come from the true meaning of the fighting arts.

    /Rant.

  7. HCF says:

YeahBuddy…..what the fuck do you know about segal and his techniques.

  8. crynot says:

Did Silva verbaly say that Segal showed him that kick, or is Segal just taking credit for it. I'm not dismissing him, I think he is a freakin ninja, but it's a front kick. my 6 year old son gave me a black eye a while back cause we were wrestling around and he front kicked me in the face. It's a front kick, not a tricky move.

  9. Rotten JD says:

Ya know there seems to be WAY WAY to many haters in the world today. Mr. Seagal has paid hid dues in the world of martial arts and no matter whether you like him or not he's the real deal and deserves respect. But if you don't agree with me just ask Anderson Silva, one of the greatest champions of mma today, what he thinks about trash talking a master!!!!

  10. Flying Armbar says:

I hate you all, and I hate me, but I love to argue. I'm so good at arguing. Gabe Reudiger is a GOD

  11. fakearms says:

Steve is the grandmaster of all martial arts!

  12. Flying Armbar says:

No, just Aikido in North America

  13. Alexander Baring says:

Anyone who does not beleive that Steve is a true martial artist does not know what he is talking about.

I trained with Steve back in the '90's and his knowledge of martial arts just blew my mind.

If MMA was around when he was in his 20's, no doubt he would be a champ. I have over 15 years of martial arts expereince and I can honestly say that i have trained with the best in the world and Steve has to be right up there.

I have not hung out with him in a while but Steve is a good guy.

  14. Rotten JD says:

Well said "Alexander Baring" and you were a lucky man to have meet let alone trained with Mr. Seagal. I myself am only 32 but it pisses me off that today's generation has completely lost the "RESPECT YOUR ELDERS" code. I mean a person gets a few years under them and all of the sudden they're shit, a has been and all that they have done doesn't amount to anything. HORSESHIT!!!!

  15. Timmie says:

I did not gi ve this guy much credit before but if he trains with AS then there has to be something there. I am sure that MMA guys can learn a lot from guys like Van Damn, Chackie Chan, etc. As Bruce Lee said..be open to all techniques and styles and take what works for you.

  16. Combat says:

Alexander Baring: 1)You don't know Steven Seagal 2)You haven't trained with the best in the world 3)You've trained with the elite of they elite for 15 years and your still commenting on comment boards….Not impressed!!

  17. Combat says:

…I trained for twenty years with Mr. T

    WINNING

  18. MMA Maniac says:

My milkshake brings the boys to the yard….it's is defenitely better than yours!

  19. emil says:

I've completely lost respect for one of my action heros, Steven Seagal. How he could waste his time on anderson silva is unbelievable.

Silva has absolutely NO respect for the art whatsoever, as evidenced by his showboating in his last few fights, mostly against Demian Maia.

Hot-dogging and dancing around like rashad evans does, pinching his nipples, etc. is absolute disrespect for the ring and MMA altogether. SHAME ON YOU SEAGAL!! YOU SUCK!

  20. emil says:

I forgot to add, I'LL BE CHEERING TRIUMPHANTLY WHEN SILVA GETS KNOCKED OUT! I CAN'T WAIT. IT'S GONNA HAPPEN, JUST A MATTER OF TIME!

Then we'll see if the dancing like a monkey really paid off. It's called Karma if you like. rashad evans learned the hard way too. Now it's your turn silva! Nighty Nighty, you punk!

  21. PoppyNick says:

Rotton I'm with you, tons of haters, keyboard warriors, and posers on this site. Used to be able to get good mma perspective here and still do from some of the old school folks.

on a side not…..Emil, even when the day comes Anderson gets KO'd or beat won't matter. What he's already done has made him a HOF'er and a legend….keep hating kid.

  22. emil says:

pussynick! Funny how you didn't address any of the points I made. What a fool!

Now, address the issues, that silva disrespects the art by dancing around the ring, showboating, like an organ grinder monkey, just like rashad evans.

Address the issue of disrespect, or don't comment dummy!

Steven Seagal has shown his true colors by even acknowledging such a punk like silva. I'd be a fan, were it not for the disrespectful actions in the ring. You know it and I know it, now agree with it, stupid.

  23. Rotten JD says:

Yes Mr. Seagal has shown his true colors but not in the way you mean there emil. He has taken the time to help a fellow martial artist perfect a different style and elevate himself to another level. Now to address your "showboating" observation. If you are not having fun at what you do would you continue to do it? Answer is NO!!!! If i had half the talent of either Seagal or Silva you better damn sure bet i would be doing it with some showmanship myself. They're level of talent can only be understood by few and obviously you do not. One thing you neglected to point out is after all of his fights Anderson Silva is beside himself with respect for all of his opponets and bowing and praising them until they leave the octagon. P.S. Damian Maia brought that upon hiself with a horrible display of falling to the ground and waiting for Silva to come to him. Silva was the CHAMP and in order to get the belt you must BEAT THE CHAMP!!!!!

  24. PoppyNick says:

LMAO….emil, don't get tough behind a keyboard kid. It only makes you look more like a pussy.

Now to address you other comments, yes Anderson has shown some showboating but in no way disrespected the sport. Rotten is exactly right in his post, Maia brought that shit on himself. Silva is always respectful and gracious to his victims following a fight. You judge him on a couple of fights, watch them all bro and then make an educated opinion instead of being a hater. I too do not like showboating I'm a grown man and I'm old school on how you handle yourself. Act like you have been there before.

Now lets see if you can respond in a respectful manner and not be tough guy or an ass.

  25. Rotten JD says:

Hmmm sounds like there are a few people that actually WATCH the fights wierd huh!!!!

  26. tico says:

…and yes, Silva did mention directly after the fight that the Kick he used to destroy Vitor was taught to him by Seagal.

So let's give this aging, bloated, has-been actor his due.
